Renew Your Hazardous Material Endorsement
Do you have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and need a renewal for your hazmat endorsement? Renewing a hazardous material endorsement allows you as a commercial driver to maintain a specific classification that you currently have on your New Mexico driver’s license.
What Is a HAZMAT Endorsement?
A HAZMAT endorsement is a requirement for all commercial driver’s who plan to transport hazardous materials. These types of materials include:
- Flammable and combustible liquids
- Some solids
- Other materials that may cause harm
Without this specific type of endorsement, you may have restrictions on the types of materials that you are allowed to transport.
In order to obtain your HAZMAT endorsement, you will first need a class A, B, or CDL license. Once you have the correct license, you will need to fill out an application to apply for the HAZMAT endorsement. After filling out the application, there are a few more tests that are required to ensure that you are not a threat. These tests include a medical screening, written exam, and a TSA background screening. However, the entire process may differ slightly depending on your state. If you pass the necessary requirements, you will receive your HAZMAT endorsement and will be required to renew every five years.
What You Need to Renew Your HAZMAT Endorsement
You will need to have the following documents when you visit one of our locations in order to expedite the services:
