For teens, there is one thing they look forward to more than anything else — learning to drive! If you are currently in driver’s ed or you’re getting ready to take your driver’s test, then you may be worried about whether or not you will pass. Practice, Practice, Practice

You can memorize the rules of the road until they are all that you know, but when it comes down to taking the actual behind-the-wheel portion of your exam, your rules of the road book won’t be able to take the test for you. The best way you can ensure that you will pass your exam with flying colors is to make sure you practice your driving skills with a trusted adult. During your driver’s ed course, your behind-the-wheel instructor will give you the basic foundation you need, but once the course is complete, you will need to practice areas where you feel unsure. Ask a parent or another trusted adult to ride along with you, and have them give you pointers. Before you know it, all of your practice will pay off and you’ll walk out of the MVD with a New Mexico driver’s license in your hand!

Learn How to Drive in All Types of Weather

Ideally, it would be great if you could drive in nice weather all the time, but that isn’t realistic. There will be times when you have to drive in pouring rain, dense fog, glaring sunlight, and other weather conditions that may be less than ideal. As a new driver, it’s a good idea to practice driving in all types of weather so that you are prepared, especially when you have the advantage of having an experienced driver in the car with you. You never know what the weather will do, and it may not be a very pleasant experience if you’re alone in the car the very first time you experience less than ideal driving conditions.
