Those who are convicted of a DUI or a DWI may be permitted to continue driving a vehicle as long as that vehicle is equipped with an Ignition Interlock Device. When this device is installed, your standard New Mexico driver’s license or REAL ID will be revoked and you will have to obtain an interlock license. Luckily, our friendly staff members at MVD Express can help make the process of obtaining your interlock license as easy as possible. Give us a call to learn more!

What Is an Ignition Interlock Device?

In order to help prevent further DUIs, the state may require you to install an Ignition Interlock Device in your vehicle for one year. This device operates in a similar way to a breathalyzer, and it requires you to give a breath sample before you start the engine of your vehicle. If you do not pass the test, then your vehicle will not start.

If you have any questions about the Ignition Interlock Device or the interlock license, then contact MVD Express. Once you’re ready to obtain your license, stop by an MVD Express near you to get started.

We look forward to helping you!
