We know you’ve been hearing it a lot lately, but welcome to New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment! If you’re wondering where to get a state ID, MVD Express is New Mexico’s one-stop shop for every MVD need. What’s more, we do it all with fast and friendly service so that you can get in and out and on with your day!

In the state of New Mexico, ID cards are used by those who don’t have a driver’s license but still need a valid form of ID for things like opening a bank account or air travel.

HOW TO GET A NEW MEXICO ID CARD FOR NEW RESIDENTS

To apply for a New Mexico state ID, you’ll have to apply in person. Our staff at MVD Express knows their stuff, but to make the process go even faster, be sure to bring with you:

  • An original birth certificate, military ID, or passport
  • Your Social Security card
  • 2 proofs of New Mexico residency (applicants under the age of 18 will only need to provide 1 proof of New Mexico residence)

When you come in, we’ll need to take a photo of you for your new New Mexico ID card. You’ll also need to provide signature. Just like a driver’s license, you have the option of registering as an organ donor (minors have to have a guardian’s signature).

The fee for a four-year state ID is $10.00 and $18.00 for an eight-year state ID. If you are 75 or older, there is no fee for a state ID (in addition to our convenience fee).
