Let us celebrate those who have served for our freedom.
Today, we honor the memory of those people in our armed forces who have served our country honorably. We are able to enjoy our freedom because of the people who have sacrificed so much for New Mexico and for our country.
Remembering Those Who Have Given All
In the recent past, Americans have given their names to protect freedom in justice in conflicts in the Middle East, including Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Remembering the people who paid the ultimate price for freedom is to honor their sacrifice and to give thanks for what they have done to protect our country. Today, you can remember those people by:
• Observing a minute of silence at 3pm. The National Moment of Remembrance allows people across the country to pause for a moment to honor those who have died in service.
• Visiting the grave of a fallen soldier. Some of us know someone who has died in their service to our country. Visit their grave or spend a few moments reminiscing about them.
• Visiting a wounded warrior or veteran. Even though this is normally done on Veteran’s Day, bringing words of encouragement or support to those have made sacrifices for this country is a way to honor the people who have died.
However you choose to remember our service men and women, make sure you take some time to for grateful reflection on the freedoms you have today.
