This Thursday, MVD Express wants to thank our beautiful state bird, the roadrunner. This bird was born to run and does so at speeds as fast as 18 miles per hour. The roadrunner is a subject of many myths and folklore traditions, often credited with supernatural powers by many New Mexicans.
This sacred bird to our state is an opportunistic predator with special adaptations such as not needing water to survive in our arid climate. They are also one of the few creatures to maintain long-term pair bonds that are monogamous in their relationships for life.
The roadrunner possesses many characteristics that make us proud to have it as our state bird. MVD Express in Albuquerque, NM is thankful for having such a unique animal represent our great state.
