Up until a week and a half ago, we were having such a dry, hot summer. The conditions were so extreme that the state closed down a number of trails and other areas that had a higher possibility for fire or other dangers. Since the rain has started falling, the conditions have improved. Late last week, officials announced that most of the trails, including those in the Sandia Mountains, would re-open. This Thursday, we’re thankful for the ability to get back out on the trails we love and enjoy the natural beauty New Mexico has to offer us!
