Ten Thousand Waves
All of that traveling in the car can leave you feeling sore and uncomfortable. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a spa where you stop on your way to Santa Fe? Luckily, there is! When most people think of New Mexico, they think about green chile and Native American culture, but what you might not have known is that one of the best spas in the state is a Japanese-inspired communal bathhouse north of Santa Fe.
While you could pass right by this amazing spa, it’s definitely worth it to stop for a few hours, or even a whole night, and let yourself be pampered from head to toe. When you stay at Ten Thousand Waves, you can expect hot tubs, massages, and skin treatments, all located within a picturesque venue that will have you thinking you died and gone to heaven. Once you feel completely relaxed and rejuvenated, it’s only a short drive to the downtown area of Santa Fe!
Santa Fe National Forest Scenic Byway
One of the draws of taking a road trip in the fall is to see all of the leaves changing color. New Mexico has many areas where you can take in the sights, but the Santa Fe National Forest Scenic Byway is by far one of the best places to view the changing colors of the season. From one end of the scenic byway to the other is 16 miles of pure beauty. Along the path, there are many places to stop and take pictures of the panoramic views, or you can pull off to the side and go for a hike!
